Meet Tim Cokely - The New MHS Football Coach

Marianna High School football fans have high hopes that our new head coach Tim Cokely will continue his winning tradition here in Marianna. Tim was the head coach at North Florida Christian High School for 12 years where he won 6 State Championships. 

He then moved to a school just outside Atltanta where he has been for the past several years. He is now excited to return to the panhandle as head coach.

He is a deeply religious person with a wife and children. Thursday evening there was a meet and greet for Tim a Avangle Church where we had the opportunity to talk with him.


Marianna High Principal May Stay

At Thursday's workshop meeting for the Jackson County School Board, Superintendent Lee Miller brought forth a recommendation that the Principal at Marianna High School, Mrs. Mary Sue Neves be retained through utilizing the services of the employee leasing firm, DES of Florida. The advantages and disadvantages of this action was discussed at the meeting, but no consensus was reached.


Riverside Beaver Choir Entertains Packed House

On Monday evening the Marianna High School auditorium was packed with parents, grandparents, friends, and fans of the famous Riverside Elementary Beaver Choir under the direction of Mrs. Flora Davis. The occasion was the group's annual Celebration of Christmas Show.


Rivertown Church May Get Heavenly Donation from Rivergate

Business News has learned from several sources that there are changes going on at Rivergate Plaza, the entirely vacant shopping center built on the eastern city limits of Marianna in the 1980s. Grants department store was the first occupant of the large cornerstone building of the shopping center. It was followed later by Woolworth's.
