A new warden for Jackson Correctional Institution has been appointed by the Florida Department of Corrections. He is Randall Bryant and he comes to Malone beginning Friday, May 4, from Lake Erie Correctional Institution in Ohio. Business News obtained a copy of an interdepartmental memo containing this information on Tuesday from the FDOC information office.

Malone Florida's Mayor Gene Wright was re-elected Tuesday night to a 5th term. The unofficial count conducted just after the polls closed at 7:00 p.m. was Gene Wright 94 - challenger Fred Guinn 11. By the numbers Mayor Wright received an overwhelming majority of 90% of all the votes cast. Please join me in wishing Gene continued success in the town of Malone. Congratulations, Gene!

Malone is such a small rural area, we need to reach outside of Malone for assistance. The Project Graduation committee is made up of Seniors' parents. To reach our goal and provide Malone 2012 Seniors a safe and drug-free graduation night event, we need help from businesses and individuals. The Malone Project Graduation committee is in need of monetary and gift prize donations to make the event successful.

We invite you to join us for the Centennial Homecoming at the First Baptist Church of Malone, on Sunday, January 29, at 10:00am (there will be no Sunday School). Mark your calendars and make plans to come and enjoy this day by sharing memories with our church family, as well as renewing acquaintances, and seeing old friends.

The biggest event of the year in Malone is the Malone Pecan Festival. This Saturday is the big day in Malone, and you will not want to miss the occasion. It is special this year. It also celebrates the 100th birthday for the City of Malone. It is the Malone Centennial!
