This morning the Marianna Police Department received multiple reports from area residents about mailings from HomeServe USA Repair Management Corp; which was described in the Jackson County Floridan 02-03-2012 as a scam which was reported by the Graceville Police Department. A web search using the key words "Homeserve" produced many hits that led off with the words "RIP OFF", and "COMPLAINT". HomeServe is apparently a real company both in the United States and Europe but has been investigated for illegal business practices both here and abroad. Many of the complaints listed on the internet pertain to the insurance aspect of the company which provides for repair costs if your water line from the city main to your house is damaged. Luckily, a sample of one of the mailings was brought to the Marianna Police Department by a concerned citizen, for which we are extremely grateful. A comparison of the mailing to the reviews on the internet confirm that the mailings are from this same company. After reading these many negative reviews about this company on the internet; the most reasonable conclusion is to have absolutely nothing to do with this company. If you have any questions or concerns please read these reviews yourself and make your own informed decision, and do not hesitate to call the Marianna Police Department if we can be of any help in this matter.

To TOTALLY replace my waterline from the meter to the EXTERIOR of my house would run about $15 in parts and about 2hours of labor by myself. Notice they say EXTERIOR, nothing whatsoever covering the interior lines. It's a rip off.

We fell for the scam, as well. We made one payment for last year. When we sent the payment this year they said we were not covered because our check had been lost. This was no coverage for two to three weeks even though we had paid the bill. When you call to talk to someone at their office, you get connected to the "Peggy" commercial commonly being shown on TV. Beware and be Warned....

HomeServe USA is a legit company but they are rotten to the core and very bad news. If you do your research you will find plenty of information that you should not do business with this company. HomeServe USA has multiple Attorneys General lawsuits in Kentucky, Ohio, and Massachussetts for deceptive advertising. This company has a Better Business Bureau rating of a D for using deceptive marketing practices. The terms and conditions of the coverage they offer give them the ability to deny your claims for reasons such as normal wear and tear, preexisting conditions, acts of god. The parent company in the U.K. had to shut down its entire phone sales operation because of a Deloitte and Touche audit.
If you really feel you need to get insurance for utility service lines there are much better companies out there like Utility Service Partners who have been endorsed by the National League of Cities and have a Better Business Bureau rating of a A+. -

None of u know what u are talking about and have not done research. Home Serve partners with many major utility companies to handle their customer repairs. I've already had a number of repairs done. All of which I paid nothing out of pocket. Saved me thousands of dollars using the same plumbers and electricians I would have had to call and pay myself without the coverage. Do research b4 u try to speak on what u dont know. They have over 1 million customers in the US and over 5 million world wide. I did my research b4 signing up and I'm so glad I did.

Hello. I received a letter yesterday which looked "official" - even showed an area map of where I live in phoenix, Az. Told me I had until May 4 to accept the coverage and "their" records indicated I was not yet protected. Thanks to all who commented on line about this scam.

My elderly aunt along with serveral of her friends at the senior center receive solicitation mail from HomeServe USA Repair Management Corp. Some of her friends have enrolled in this program and have sent money. One elderly had a full years payment deducted from her bank even though she signed up for monthly payments.
This company is a scam and have made my aunt aware of this. This company continues to send her mail and warns of her of the high cost should her water line break. This worries my aunt very much and each time I have to convince her this company is a scam. How can I remove her address from this company's mailing list. I have called them to do so, however, the mail continues. -

My husband received this same letter. We figured it was a scam. Return address is a PO Box. My mother-in-law also received the same letter. I'm glad she called my husband who told her not to respond to it.
