Mrs. Eula Speights Ivory, age 67, of Marianna, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 in the Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, Florida.  Mrs. Eula Speights Ivory was a member of the Mount Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse II.

Sis. Alease Yvonne Sorey, age 73 of Campbellton, FL passed away Saturday January 28th at her daughter's resident in Baltimore, Maryland funeral service will be held 1-pm Saturday February 4th at the New Bethel C.M.E. Church in Campbellton, where Rev. Freeman Walker Sr. is pastor with Evangelist Carl Sorey will bring the message. Interment will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery with Mckinnie Funeral Home of Campbellton directing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday February 3rd at the Mckinnie Funeral Home Chapel.

There is another hat which has just been thrown into the political ring in Jackson County. Or, in this case perhaps we should say another "bonnet" has been thrown into the ring. On Tuesday Karen Fader, who directs the Community Safety Coalition in Jackson County filed the necessary fees and paperwork to become a candidate for the position of Jackson County Tax Collector.

The Navy runs on words. They may be on a screen now and saved on chips, but my guess is that words are still there and admirals are causing them to be written and junior officers are nervously reading them and trying to figure out what they really mean.

On 12/15/11 Officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to a residence located at 4266 6th Ave, Marianna, FL., in reference to an armed robbery. The victim who works for a local pizza business was delivering pizza to the above address when he was robbed by two black males.

Ribbon cutting at new RFP location: Owner Ann Jones and Realtor Ora Mock held a Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting on Friday, Dec. 9, for the real estate office's new location at the corner of U.S. 90 and Jefferson Street, directly across from the courthouse.
