Because of an idea fostered by Marianna's Chief Hayes Baggett a new program will soon be starting at the Jackson County Correctional Facility. The Marianna Fire Department, under the guidance of Chief Byron Bennett has become an active teaching center for CPR certification and other basic life saving techniques. At present the staff has eleven certified CPR instructors, and teaches this important technique to around 30 people per month. Among these are most of the City of Marianna employees. Additionally, many companies have made this training a requirement for employment.
