We should never take people for granted. This is especially true for those senior citizens which often tend to be disregarded as they struggle with the maladies of aging while trying to keep pace with a rapidly changing world. Many of them are nearing the end of a life's pathway filled with experiences, accomplishments, and deeds which will astound all who take time to listen. That is the case of Albert Lane of Greenwood.

The 6th Annual Veterans Day Parade Is Now Forming

This year the Marianna Veterans Day Parade will begin at 5:00 PM. The event will be hosted by the Ted Walt Post 12046 of the VFW. The parade will progress through downtown Marianna. Due to Marianna City Ordinance, no candy can be thrown from the floats. No riders can be standing. Lineup will be at the old High School beginning at 3:30 pm on Nov 11th.


Local Korean War Vets Attend Unit Reunion

On October 14 local retired businessman and active civic leader, Tommy Granger of Marianna, and retired Chipola Instructor, Dr. Robert Ringer traveled to Lebanon, Tennessee for the fifteenth reunion of their old Korean War unit, the 151st Combat Engineer Battalion. One of the primary roles this group played in the conflict was mine removal, along with building bridges. Many causalities were incurred during the removal of some 1700 mines which were discovered and removed by this unit.
