Our featured speaker for the evening is one of Florida's most influential leaders, Chief Financial Officer and Florida Cabinet Member Jeff Atwater. A fifth-generation Floridian, was elected Florida's Chief Financial Officer on November 2, 2010. He began his legislative service as a member of the Florida House of Representatives in 2000. Two years later, he was elected to the Florida Senate, and was chosen to serve as Senate President from 2008 through 2010.
Following CFO Atwater's message, we will present our three major annual awards: the Citizen of the Year Award, the Wayne Mixson Economic Leadership Award, and the Leadership Jackson County "Excellence in Leadership" Award.
After the awards presentations, outgoing 2011 Chairman John Milton, Chairman, Daffin Foodservice, will ceremonially hand over the gavel to incoming 2012 Chairman, Mickey Gilmore, General Manager, Wal-Mart. An after-banquet reception and more networking will wrap up the evening's activities.
