Senator Bill Montford hosted a reception on the street in front of his new Madison Street offices in downtown Marianna on Tuesday evening. A large crowd of hungry well wisher gathered to enjoy the food and the companionship as everyone welcomed our legislator.

After Elmore Bryant eloquently blessed the event, Chamber CEO Art Kimbrough officially welcomed Montford to our community, and a large crowd squeezed together for picture taking as a ribbon cutting ceremony took place. Montford gave a few remarks, presenting his family and describing how entranced he was the first time he saw his future wife, Jane. He emphasized that he was born in Jackson County, attended school at Chipola, and feels a special kinship with Jackson County.

He briefly mentioned the upcoming redistricting and the possibility that he might not be representing Jackson County after the redistricting dust has settled. He promised that he was going to fight as hard as possible to keep Jackson County as part of his district.
