History of "Charlie Brown Christmas"

Good Grief! Charlie Brown....
It all began thirty eight years ago when Jackson County State Farm Agent Charlie Brown first built and placed the four central characters of the famous Charlie Brown comic strip in his front yard as Christmas displays. It has grown steadily each year since then.

Charlie Brown and his Christmas display has become part of Christmas in Jackson County, as generations have now shared the enjoyment of driving by his front yard on the evenings preceding the holiday to enjoy his handiwork. This year is no different. The Chipmunks sing Christmas music as lights twinkle, and the long line of familiar cartoon celebrities wink at us. Among the crowd is a big yellow Sponge Bob which is pointing upward. Charlie said at first he was struggling on just which location would be best for this display when he looked up on a tree where he had a lighted sign which said, "Happy Birthday Baby Jesus". He then knew where to put Sponge Bob. You'll see him under that tree pointing up at the sign.

It takes Charlie about eighty hours each year to get all of the display up and operating, and another eighty to take it down and put it into storage. Guess where he keeps them all year, ... that's right! Charlie Brown's Storage Units behind the State Farm office.

Charlie welcomes everyone to come by, to stop, park in the edge of the grass, get out and let the kids look at the displays up close. He has it operating from dark until around 9:30 each evening. All of us can say, "We love you, Charlie Brown, ... and, Thanks for making Christmas just a little more special."

The state of Florida and Jackson county should be repenting for their misdeeds in regards to race relation and the murders committed against my family and black people who built this country with their blood.
