Although he is a very busy man this time of year as he prepares for his long trip around the world trip on Christmas Eve, Santa Claus spent this Saturday morning at the Jackson County TIMES office talking to over fifty little girls and boys who came to tell him what they most wanted for him to bring them this year. Santa asked most of them if they had been good this year, and had done everything their parents asked them to do.

Santa also told the children that he had been watching them during the year, and that he knew they were telling the truth. He asked many of them to be sure and leave him some milk and cookies on Christmas Eve, since he got very hungry during his long trip. He also described his reindeer and how they pulled his sleigh through the sky.

Santa had on his regular red outfit, and his beard was as white as snow. Some here thought he slightly resembled Ed Ham, owner of Ham Peanut Company, a fact that some of Ed's friends may never have noticed before.

While they were visiting the office, Santa also gave each of them a toy, some candy, as well as the cookies and drinks which were provided by the newspaper. Also, and perhaps most important of all, every child had his/her picture taken with Santa, and a 5 X 7 Photograph will be given to all who came.

When noon arrived, it was time for Santa to depart. We heard his reindeer and sleigh land on our roof. Santa disappeared upstairs, and in a few minutes we heard him exclaim, "Peace on Earth, and Merry Christmas to Everyone" as the sleigh disappeared into the clouds. (Santa is IFR qualified.)
