Apparently to keep up with restaurants such as The Outback and the nearby Beef O'Brady's, a bar is to be included in a major remodeling of Sonny's Bar-B-Q in Marianna. Local manager Linden White spoke with Business News Tuesday afternoon. "We've got to keep up with the times," he said. "All of Sonny's 100-plus restaurants in the Southeast are being upgraded."

"We won't be closed for a single day," White said, concerning the estimated three-month construction project. "We'll have a new dining room and new lighting will provide a new look for the restaurant."

The remodeling is to begin quickly. Additional new construction is to take place on the drive-through (north) side, but a new drive-through will be added. Sonny's Marianna opened in 1994 and currently employs about 50 persons. Its location is 2250 Hwy 71, across the highway from the Wal-Mart Supercenter at the I-10 interchange.
