Grand Ridge has liked the home field advantage this year, picking up their third win in a row, and second straight win at home. The 38-6 win wasn’t the 16-0 and 42-0 shutouts the last two games were but it was another solid win with defense proving their place equal to any in the area.
Offensively, Calvin Stringer had two rushing touchdowns in 85 yards on the ground and added a pair of two-point conversions.
Malachi Aydelotte continued to excel on the field with a 70-yard touchdown run, and tacked on a two-point conversion. Rictavious Reed and Seth Scott both added a pair of rushing touchdowns.
Completing two point conversions were Colton Mercer and Manny Perry.
Grand Ridge coach Laramie Dryden took advantage of a 32-6 half time lead to give his sixth grade team some field time in the final quarter.
Following the game, coach Laramie Dryden praised his team, “They could’ve held their heads down when Aucilla (Christian) burned them on that deep pass but they didn’t. They never gave up, kept driving and the defense had another outstanding game. After that one score, it was pretty much all on us.”
For the third week in a row, Dryden had nothing but praise for his defense, “I thought we played well defensively. Our inside linebackers Seth (Scott) and Trevor
(Tyus) played really well. Then in the second half, Scott (Rowan) did a great job after missing the first half because of stitches in his hand.”
Grand Ridge will be looking to make it four in a row next week when they host Franklin County with a 5 p.m. kick off. Results of that game will be in next week’s edition of the Jackson County Times.
