LADY BULLDOGS ARE MOVING ON IN DISTRICT PLAYOFFS

LADY BULLDOGS ARE MOVING ON IN DISTRICT PLAYOFFS

The Marianna Lady Bulldogs soccer team has found another gear as the post-season is upon them. Last week, they hosted the first game in district playoffs and took it to overtime to declare a victory. When the final horn sounded, it was a 3-2 win for Marianna.

Scoring first for Marianna was Michal McGowan with Trelicia Jones picking up the next goal on an assist from Kate Myhill. In the overtime period, it was sure-footed Anne Marie Wells who found the back of the net to give Marianna the win.

Abigail Callahan was dominant in goal, allowing just the two goals scored with seven saves on the night.

Monday night, the Lady Bulldogs took the field in round two of the district playoffs hosted at Bulldog Stadium. Defense was on the menu and it proved to be a four-course menu with the game knotted at zero following regulation play.

Taking it to overtime, the team had momentum on their side, knowing they had a solid defender at goalie in Abigail Callahan. They kept the ball moving in the right direction, with Sarah Young finding an opening and notching one to the back of the net. That earned the Lady Bulldogs a chance for a district championship.

They will play in the championship game Thursday night at Bulldog Stadium with their hopes high to defeat FLORIDA HIGH for the district title.  The Lady Bulldogs invite EVERYONE come to come out and cheer them on to victory! Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and blankets, along with some very loud cheering are more than welcomew at Bulldog stadium.
