Chipola basketball tops century mark in win over Coastal Alabama

The holiday break came to an end for the Chipola men’s basketball team Sunday when they took the court against Coastal Alabama in tournament play at Gulf Coast. The Indians hit the century mark for the ninth time this season in picking up the 106-69.  

Chipola took control early and never let up, leading 50-30 after one half of play. They showed no mercy in the second half and outscored their opponent 56-39.

It was a well-balanced game with every player putting points on the board, led by Keishawn Brewton with 26 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Right behind Brewton was Cheikh Faye with 19 points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal, followed by Daniel Oladapo with 16 points, eight rebounds, and one steal.  Also, in double digits was Bitumba Baruti with 12 points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. 

The Indians had one more game in tournament play at Gulf Coast before returning to the Milton H. Johnson Health Center to take on Shelton State Friday night. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.  The Indians begin conference play at home against Tallahassee Community College on Wednesday, January 9 with a 7:30 tipoff scheduled.
