Last week, the Malone Tigers traveled across the county to take on their cross-county rival, the Graceville Tigers. The visiting Tiger team had a pleasant bus ride home with a 53-47 win.
Malone took advantage of a sluggish Graceville offense in the first quarter, outscoring them 18-6 and Graceville never caught up. It was the Taylor Brown show with four shots from downtown to lead Malone while Joell Green led Graceville with four points. In the second quarter, it was Graceville taking a 13-12 win over Malone, led in part by Xavian Sorey with four points while Malone was led by Spencer Sneads and Kaleb Wilson with four points each. At the half, the visiting Tigers held a 30-19 lead.
Graceville took the court in the third quarter fired up and it showed on the scoreboard with 14 points going up to Malone’s eight. Xavian Sorey and Joell Green both put up five points while Andre Brown added the other four. For Malone, it was Ocasio Murff with five points. Malone edged by Graceville in the final quarter 15-14 to secure their 53-47 win. Graceville was led by Andre Brown with six points, while it was once again Taylor Brown with nine points in the final period.
On the night, Graceville was led by Xavian Sorey with 13 points, while Andre Brown and Joell Green were both in double digits with 11 points each. Malone was led by Taylor Brown with 23 points, followed by Ocasio Murff with 11 points. On board with nine points was Kaleb Wilson.
