George Brown

Retired Master Sgt. George Brown, affectionally called “The Mayor” of Cypress, Florida, transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Magnolia House in Quincy, Florida.

He was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and a veteran of the U. S. Army after serving 26 years.

Funeral services for Retired Master Sgt. Brown will be Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at Sunrise Worship Center, located at 2645 Pebble Hill Road, Marianna, Florida 32448. Rev. Samuel Everett, Pastor, Rev. David Cobb, Rev.

David Green, Supt. Roy Crawley Sr. and Bishop Dr. Curtis L. Williams officiating. Interment in the Bethel Cemetery in Cypress, Florida.

Vann Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Brown will lie in repose at the church from 11:00 A.M. until time for the service.

The viewing will be held Friday, August 17, 2018, from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. A wake will be held on Friday from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Cypress, Florida.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, a loving and devoted family:

Mr. Timothy L. Stephens, of Marianna, Florida, transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on July 30, 2018 in Jackson Hospital. 

Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Vann Funeral Home located at 4265 Saint Andrews Street in Marianna, Florida 32448 with Prophet Billy White and Evangelist Patsy Stephens officiating. Interment in the Orange Hill Cemetery. Vann Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Stephens will lie in state in the Chapel of Vann Funeral Home on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 10:00 AM until time for the service. 

A viewing will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Vann Funeral Home.

William Johnson

Mr. William Johnson, of Grand Ridge, Florida, transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Monday, July 30, 2018 in the Signature Healthcare at the Courtyard. He was self-employed as a logger. To know him was to love him. 

Celebration of Life services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM from the sanctuary of the Saint Rose African Methodist Episcopal Church located at 660 Holmes Court in Grand Ridge, Florida with the Reverend Linda Nickles Dukes (pastor) and Reverend Mark Dudley officiating. Interment in the Sunset Garden Cemetery in Grand Ridge, Florida. Vann Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Johnson will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM on Friday, August 3, 2018 until time for the service.

Essie Mae Pierce

Mrs. Essie Mae Pierce, of Marianna, FL, transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in Bay Medical Center, Panama City, FL.

She was a member of Mt. Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church and was employed at Sunland Center as a Nurse until she retired.  

Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church 2135 Fairview Road Marianna, FL with Rev. Douglas Jones, Rev. Claude Holden, Rev. Henry Forward and Rev. Charles Flowers, Pastor Officiating.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Vann Funeral Home will be in charge of the service.

The viewing will be held Friday, August 3, 2018 from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Vann Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pierce will lie in repose at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time for the service.
