Thelma (Potter) Jenkins

Mrs. Thelma (Potter) Jenkins, of Panama City, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on April 23, 2019 in the Sacred Heart Health System of Pensacola, Florida.  She was 94 years old and a native of Vernon, Florida. 

Thelma was born on October 16, 1924 to the late Jessie & Lucille (Carr) Potter in Vernon, Florida.  She was of the Methodist Faith and was a member of the New Bethel AM.E. Church of Vernon, Florida. Thelma attended the public-school system of Washington County, and later received her High School Diploma from Shaw School in Panama City, Florida.  She worked part-time as a bus driver for the Council on Aging.  Thelma loved sewing in her spare time.  For most of her life, she worked as the bookkeeper for her husband, the late Coties Jenkins, Sr., in their family owned business. 

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her son: Coties Jenkins, Jr. (Valarie) of Panama City, Florida;  one she raised as her own: Steve Potter of Panama City, Florida; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; sister: Clydie Williams of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two brothers: Clarence Potter (Ellaweese) of Chipley, Florida, and Matthew Potter of New Haven, Connecticut; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  

A Celebration of Thelma’s Life will be held 11 AM CST, Saturday, May 4, 2019 from the sanctuary of the New Bethel A.M.E. Church of Vernon, Florida with Rev. Carrie Brown, Pastor/Officiating.  Committal Service will follow in the Sylvania Cemetery of Vernon, Florida with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida, directing. 

Public Viewing will be held from 12 Noon-9 PM on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida.  The remains will lie in repose at the church on Saturday 1hr prior to services.  Family and friends may sign the guestbook online at www.cooperfhchipley.com.

Dennie Wright

Deacon Dennie Wright of Chipley, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on April 10, 2019 in the Southwest Alabama Medical Center of Dothan, Alabama.  He was 82 years old. 

Dennie was a devoted member of the Mt. Ararat First Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. H.G. McCollough.  He served on the Deacon Board and attended Sunday School and Sunday Service faithfully until his health began to fail him.  He was a handy man in the community for many years, willing to assist anybody that was in need.  

Dennie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Viola Boston Wright; son: Dennis Wright; and his daughter: Phyllis Wright. 

He leaves to cherish his memories his son: Richard Paul Wright of Chipley, Florida; one sister: Gail Hariston of Powhatan, Virgina; three brothers: William Henderson of Tallahassee, Florida, Haywood (Ava) Henderson of Springfield, Illinois, and Danny Wright of Washington, D.C.; along with a host of sisters & brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

A Celebration of Life will be held 11 AM CST, Saturday, April 20, 2019 from the sanctuary of the Mt. Ararat First Missionary Baptist Church of Chipley, Florida with Rev. Dr. H.G. McCollough, Pastor/Officiating.  Committal Service will follow in the Southside Cemetery of Chipley, Florida with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida, directing.

Rafael Antonio Monagas, Jr.

Rafael Antonio Monagas, Jr., of Chipley, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on March 7, 2019 in the comfort of his home.  He was 53 years old and a native of Brooklyn, New York. 

Rafael was born on May 12, 1965 to Sonia Mirella Merriel and Rafael Antonio Monagas, Sr. in Brooklyn, New York.  He was a jack of many trades, helping anyone in the community.  He will be truly missed. 

He leaves to cherish his memories his parents: Sonia Merriel (James) of Chipley, Florida and Rafael Monagas, Sr. of Orlando, Florida; daughter: Alicia Monagas of Brooklyn, New York; son: Antonio Monagas of Chipley, Florida; three grandchildren; three sisters: Joann Monagas of Brooklyn, New York, Wanda Jenkins (John) and Milagios Monagas, both of Centereach, New York; along with a host of other relatives and friends. 

A Celebration of Rafael’s Life will be held 1 PM CST, Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from the sanctuary of the Grace Assembly of God Church in Chipley, Florida with pastor, Rev. Dallas Pettis, officiating.  Committal Services will be held Monday, March 18, 2019 in New York with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida, and Borinquen Memorial Funeral Home of Brooklyn, New York, directing. 

The remains will lie in repose 1hr prior to services at the church on Tuesday.  Friends may sign the guestbook online at www.cooperfhchipley.com.  

Ryan Darius Kirby

Ryan Darius Kirby, of Chipley, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on March 2, 2019 in the Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center of Panama City, Florida.  He was 41 years old and a native of Tallahassee, Florida. 

Ryan was born on September 11, 1977 to Eddie R. Kirby and Claude Brown in Quincy, Florida.  Ryan had a deep love for the country and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was an energetic, free-spirited, adventurous, and kind-hearted person who enjoyed his family and making people laugh.  Ryan loved lie and lived it to the fullest.  

Survivors include a son: Ryan Kirby, Jr., Tallahassee; 4 daughters: Alexandria Kirby, Tara Coring, both of Tallahassee, Aneeka Butler & Naleah Kirby, both of Chipley; grandson: Jaiden Butler; mother: Eddie Kirby-Bland, Tallahassee; father: Claude (Lillian) Brown, Sr., Crawfordville; grandparents: Virena Brown, Tallahassee, & George Kirby, Sr., Havana; 4 brothers: Darwin (Elizabeth) Kirby, Claude (Eureka) Brown, Jr., Jason, Brown, all of Tallahassee, & Desmond Ford, Crawfordville; along with a host of other relatives & friends.

A Celebration of Ryan’s Life will be held 2PM CST, Saturday, March 9, 2019 from the sanctuary of the St. Joseph A.M.E. Church with pastor, Rev. Delanor Myrick, Rev. Lina Ellis, Rev. Larry Brown, and Min. Linda Sheffield, officiating.  Committal Service will follow in the church cemetery with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida, directing. 

The remains will lie in repose at the church 1hr. prior to services at the church.  Friends may sign the guestbook online at www.cooperfhchipley.com.
