Myrtle L. Kent

Myrtle L. Kent, 67 of Chipley, Florida, entered eternal rest on August 18, 2018 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her beloved family.  

Beloved daughter of the late Mack C. Kent & Annie V. Kent Holmes.  Devoted mother of Jacqueline FeliciaAnn Davis of Syracuse, New York and Bertram Eugne Robinson of Georgetown, Kentucky.  Cherished grandmother of Johnterra, Brandon, Shayla, Tyler, Dyonsia, Marcus and great-grandmother of Desiree, Jaiceon, Ja’den, Kayleea, Brandon, Jr., Christian, Taylen, Brantley, and Kynslee.  Loving sister of Janet (Robert), Barbara, Linda (Richard), Diane, Martha, D’Vonne, and sister-in-law, Lolita (Joseph).  Also, survived by a host of nieces and nephews, whom each will always be in her heart.  Special friends: Rose Kent, Delois Gilchriest, Jimmie Cooper, and Sallie Johnson.  Loving sister-cousin, Lois Brown; and a very loving and beautiful church family at Mt. Ararat First Missionary Baptist Church. 

There will be no church services and no chapel service at Myrtle’s request. Graveside Services will be held on 11 AM CST, Thursday, August 23, 2018 in the Southside Cemetery of Chipley, Florida with the Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida, directing.  Myrtle’s great love for family, church, neighbors, and friends will always be remembered and serve as an ongoing inspiration. 

If you miss me from loving, praying, and singing down here, come on up to glory, I’ll be waiting up there with my JESUS!!, Mama, Daddy, Granny, Joseph, and my sweet Hattie.

Juanita (Potter) Brown

Juanita (Potter) Brown, of Vernon, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 13, 2018 in the Washington Rehab and Nursing Center of Chipley, Florida.  She was 97 years old.

Juanita was born on February 4, 1921 in Millers Ferry, Florida to the late Thomas and Annie (Brown) Potter.  She was of the Holiness faith and was an early member of the Church of God In Christ in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, later moving her membership to the McQueen’s Temple First Born Church in Vernon, Florida.  She also was one of the church mothers, trustee, and eldest member of McQueen’s Temple.  Juanita was associated with the Jolly Seniors Group and was a homemaker by trade.  

She leaves to cherish her memories her caregiver, whom she loved and referred to as her daughter: Blondell (Rev. Willie E.) Brown of Vernon, Florida; sister-in-law: Josephine Potter of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; along with a large host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  

A Celebration of Juanita’s Life will be held 11 AM CST, Saturday, August 18, 2018 from the sanctuary of the McQueen’s Temple First Born Church of Vernon, Florida, with pastor, Jr. Bishop J.O. Brown, Min. Wade Brown, Rev. Richard Peterson, Rev. Leonard Dean and Rev. Eli Andrews, officiating.  Committal Service will follow in the St. Luke Memorial Gardens of Vernon, Florida with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing. 

Public Viewing will begin on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 12 Noon until 9 PM in the Cooper Funeral Home Chapel of Chipley, Florida.  The remains will lie in repose at the church 1hr prior to services on Saturday.  Friends may sign the guestbook online at www.cooperfhchipley.com.

Charlotte Sanchez-Tyler

Charlotte Sanchez-Tyler, of Daytona Beach, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on August 2, 2018 in Daytona Beach, Florida.  She was 96 years old and was a native of Bonifay, Florida.  

Charlotte was born on October 10, 1921 to the late Eustiza Perrier and Nemia Adusta (Thomas) Sanchez in Bonifay, Florida.  She was of the Methodist Faith and grew up in the New Bethel A.ME. Church of Bonifay, Florida.  

Charlotte received her public education in the Holmes County School System.  After high school she pursued her career in education and music, receiving a BS and a MA in Education and Music.  She then moved to Daytona Beach, Florida where she resided for 33+ years until her demise.  Charlotte was an avid teacher and a dynamic singer.  She was married to the late, renowned saxophonist, James F. (Jimmy) Tyler. Together they traveled the world, playing, singing, and loving each other as only they could.  

She leaves to cherish her memories five (5) nieces: Amelia Sanchez-Norman, Claudia Sanchez-Clover, Shirley Johnson, Arthur Jean Johnson, and Gwendolyn Adkins; four (4) nephews: Adolphus Sanchez, Washington Sanchez, Carlos Sanchez, and Joseph Sanchez; along with a host of great-nieces & nephews, other relatives and friends. 

A Celebration of Charlotte’s Life will be held 1 PM CST, Thursday, August 9, 2018 from the sanctuary of the New Bethel A.M.E. Church of Bonifay, Florida with pastor, Rev. Claretta Smith Rev. Charles Flowers, and Rev. Dr. Andrew Davis, officiating.  Committal Service will follow in the Bonifay City Cemetery with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida, directing. 

The family will receive friends for visitation 1hr prior to services at the church on Thursday.  Friends may sign the guestbook online at www.cooperfhchipley.com.

Julious C., “J.C.” Russ

Julious C., “J.C.” Russ  of Chipley, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on July 26, 2018 in the Northwest Florida Community Hospital of Chipley, Florida.  He was 83 years old and a native of Jacob City, Florida. 

Julious was born on March 16, 1935 to the late Hester Walker in Jacob City, Florida.  He was a member of the St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church in Jacob City, Florida and a lineman for the L&N Railroad Company. 

He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter: Paula Russ of Panama City, Florida; two (2) sons: Felix Russ of St. Louis, Missouri, and Leon (Brenda) Russ of Panama City, Florida; two (2) brothers: Maxie Walker and J.B. Walker, both of Jacob City, Florida; along with a host of grandchildren, other relatives and friends.  

A Celebration of Life will be held 2 PM CST, Saturday, August 4, 2018 from the sanctuary of the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church with pastor, Rev. Tony Davis, Rev. Obadiah White, and Rev. Thomas Smith, officiating.  Committal Service will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery of Jacob City, Florida, with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida, directing.  

The remains will lie in repose 1hr. prior to services at the church on Saturday.  Friends may sign the guestbook online at www.cooperfhchipleycom.
