Russell “Rusty” A. Rogers

Russell “Rusty” A. Rogers, age 59 of Grand Ridge, passed from this life on December 3, 2017 at Tallahassee Memorial Health Care in Tallahassee, Florida.

Russell was born on July 1, 1958 in Quincy, Florida to Jack Rogers and Ethel Mae Walker. A lifelong resident of the Florida Panhandle, Russell was known as “Rusty”, and worked as a Rehab Specialist at Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Rogers.

He is survived by his loving wife: Jutta Rogers of Grand Ridge, Florida; one daughter: Michele Branch and husband Matt of Tallahassee, Florida; one grandchild: Alaina Branch of Tallahassee, Florida; mother: Ethel Mae Rogers of Chattahoochee, Florida; one brother: Carlton Rogers and wife Lisa of Chattahoochee, Florida; one sister: Jackie Reese and husband Mark of Quincy, Florida; one niece and one nephew.

A memorial service will be held in his honor 2P.M. EST, Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Sycamore Baptist Church, 705 Little Sycamore Road, Quincy, Florida 32531 with Rev. Roger Blevins and Alvin Shelton officiating. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida in charge of arrangements.

Eddie “Mule Man” Benefield Sr.

Eddie “Mule Man” Benefield Sr., age 63 of Cottondale, passed from this life on December 2, 2017 at Jackson Hospital in Marianna, Florida.

Eddie was born on April 8, 1954 in Jackson County, Florida to Henry and Jeanie (Harris) Benefield. A lifelong resident of the Florida panhandle, Eddie was known as “Mule Man”, and was a farmer by trade. He was a member of Alford Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Jeanie Benefield.

He is survived by his loving wife: Lillie Benefield of Cottondale, Florida; three sons: Eddie Benefield of Cottondale, Florida, Chico Benefield and wife Chrissi of Cottondale, Florida, Kody Adkins of Marianna, Florida; one daughter: Melissa Adkins of Cottondale, Florida; one brother: Daryl Benefield and wife Tomila of Marianna, Florida; two sisters: Rosie Benefield of Chipley, Florida, Juanita Benefield of Marianna, Florida; three grandchildren: Aaliyah Benefield, Shianna Benefield, and Kayelissa Benefield.

A memorial service will be held in his honor 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Obert Funeral Home with Rev. Tracy Boggs officiating. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 10-12P.M. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Obert Funeral Home.

Adam Cheaney

Adam Cheaney, age 37 of Sneads, passed from this life on September 24, 2017 at his residence.

Adam was born on January 16, 1980 in Houston, Texas. He was a resident of the Florida panhandle since the age of 4 and enjoyed spending time on the water wakeboarding, as well as playing volleyball. He loved his family and friends, but the love of his life was his two girls.

He is survived by his mother: Donna Davis and husband Jeff of Marianna, Florida; two daughters: Ava Cheaney of California and Addy Cheaney of Sneads, Florida; brother: BJ McDaniel of Sneads, Florida; maternal grandparents: Bonnie and Floyd Pumphrey of Cottondale, Florida; step father: Bob McDaniel and wife Denisa of Sneads, Florida; two step brothers: Joseph Davis of Atlanta, Georgia, Trent Jeter of Sneads, Florida; two step sisters: Sianna Thomas and husband Daniel of Webster, Florida, Kylee Davis of Sneads, Florida; biological father and paternal grandmother: Terry Cheaney and Marilyn Cheaney both of Houston, Texas.

Funeral services will be held 10A.M. Friday, September 29, 2017 at Evangel Worship Center in Marianna, Florida with Pastor Lavon Pettis and Pastor Juno Douglas officiating. Interment will follow in Dykes Cemetery in Sneads, Florida. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 6-8P.M. Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Evangel Worship Center. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the Sneads High School Graduation Fund.

Leanna McCluskey Gomez

Leanna went to heaven on September 27, 2017.   She was a resident of Marianna, Florida for 43 years and was the loving Mom of Kip Gomez and Heather Sanders.

Her journey began March 5, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York as the daughter of William and Joyce McCluskey.  Her creative talents led her to become an accomplished ballet dancer and the co-owner and ballet instructor of Studio 71 South.  She was also a beloved cosmetologist and professional artist.

She became a born again follower of Christ in 2004 and has since been a devoted member of Faith Baptist Church in Marianna, Fl. 

She is survived by her children Kip Gomez (Kristi) and Heather Sanders (Tim); eight beautiful grandchildren, Max, Joyelle, Nathan, Andrew, Jacob, Jessica, Joshua and Jodi; a precious sister-in-law and nieces and nephews (Minnesota).  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Fred McCluskey.

A memorial service will be held 11 AM on October 7, 2017 at Faith Baptist Church. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida in charge of arrangements.

Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Faith Baptist Church, Missionary Support, 2494 Hwy 71, Marianna, Florida, 32448.
