Michele Lee Jackson

Michele Lee Jackson, age 68 of Compass Lake, passed from this life on February 5, 2019 at Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Michele was born on August 12, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Shirley Wilson TenBroeck. She was an accomplished Violinist and Cello player and attained her Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts, Music. Michele embodied the words happiness, kindness, gentleness, and charity. She chose to live life to the fullest and to encourage and uplift others to follow their dreams. She worked as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Jackson Hospital for many years before her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her loving husband, John Jackson of Compass Lake, Florida; three sisters: Tina Hogan and husband Tom of Frankfort, Illinois, Cheryl TenBroeck of Terre Haute, Indiana, Charlene Peterson of San Bernadino, California; two brothers: Chuck TenBroeck and wife JoAnne of Frankfort, Illinois, Bob TenBroeck and wife Pat of Oak Forrest, Illinois; nieces and nephews: Tom, Joe, Ellen, Anna, Kathryn, Kristin, Marie, Janet, Kim and Scott.

Funeral service will be held 3P.M. Friday, February 8, 2019 at Christian Center Church, 3277 Old U.S. Road, Marianna, Florida with Pastor Gino Mayo and Pastor Steve Stirrup officiating. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida in charge of arrangements. 

The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Sydney Joel Pate

Sydney Joel Pate, age 80 of Chipley, went home to be with the Lord on February 5, 2019 at Washington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Joel was born on April 25, 1938 in Jackson County, Florida to J.L. and Bonnie Searcy Pate. He served in the Army National Guard and worked with the Florida Department of Transportation Roadway Design Department for 34 years. A very involved member of his community, Joel served on the Washington County Board of County Commissioners from 2006- 2014, as well as numerous other county boards. He served as Treasurer for the Republican Party of Florida for 12 years. Joel loved his community and was an avid supporter of youth sports, 4-H, and FFA. He was a member of Holmes Creek Baptist Church in Chipley, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Pate of Chipley, Florida; son: Clint Pate and wife Alice of Graceville, Florida; daughter: Rita Ventry and husband Frank of Quincy, Florida; brother: Franklin Pate of Crawfordville, Florida; three grandchildren: Anthony Pate and wife Alyssa, Hannah O’Steen and husband Shannon, Hunter Ventry; five great grandchildren: Landon O’Steen, Brantlee Pate, Makayla O’Steen, Ashlyn O’Steen, Gentry Pate.

Funeral services will be held 2P.M. Friday, February 8, 2019 at Holmes Creek Baptist Church in Chipley, Florida with Pastor Doug Hogg officiating. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Chipley, Florida. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.

The family will receive friends for visitation 6-8P.M. Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Holmes Creek Baptist Church in Chipley, Florida.

Brady Roland Taylor and Brody Anthony Taylor

Twin baby boys Brady Roland Taylor and Brody Anthony Taylor , upon the wind of Heaven’s love, entered hand in hand into God’s presence on January 20, 2019. 

Brady and Brody were born on January 20, 2019 at Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center to Heath Roland Taylor II and Savannah Brooke Capps. The boys were full of fight and heart and their strong spirits touched everyone around them. Their time on earth, while brief, will be forever cherished and the love for them will never diminish. 

They were preceded in death by their big brother Anthony Roland Taylor, maternal great grandmother Donna Capps, maternal great grandparents Wesley and Aileen Sistrunk,  and paternal great grandmother, Sharon Nichols.

They are survived by their loving parents, Heath Roland Taylor II and Savannah Brooke Capps of Chipley, Florida; maternal grandparents Mark Anthony and Shauna Foran of Cottondale, Florida; paternal grandparents Heath and Regina Taylor of Chipley, Florida; maternal great grandparents Brady and Naoma Foran of Cottondale, Florida; maternal great grandmother Charlotte Foran of Grand Ridge, Florida; paternal great grandmother Sara Thomas of Graceville, Florida; paternal great grandfather James Nichols of Graceville, Florida; maternal great great grandmother Linda Capps of Panama City, Florida and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and loved ones. 

 Heath and Savannah give heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Livingston, Dr. Tricia Percy, the Labor and Delivery, NICU and mother/baby staff of Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center as well as special friends, nurses Teresa Kirkland, Niki Williams, Morgan Hill, Kathy Holmes, Jennifer Smith and honorary “Auntie”  Dr. Bridget Cobb.

 Funeral services will be held 1P.M. Friday, January 25, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Cottondale with Pastor James Gray Braxton and Pastor Jeff Scalf officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior at the church. Interment will follow at Magnolia Church Cemetery in Altha, Florida with Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.

Van Goodsell Roark

Van Goodsell Roark, 61 of Cottondale, passed from this life on November 17, 2018 at his residence.

Van was born on December 5, 1956 in Lenoir, North Carolina to Emmett and Doris Stephens Roark. He was an Electrician by trade and attained his Bachelor’s degree from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. His life was spent helping others, taking mission trips to Africa, and working with Samaritan’s Purse after the destruction of Hurricane Katrina. He loved spending time outdoors skiing, deep sea fishing, and diving. He was a member of Alford Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father: Emmett Goodsell Roark; sister: Lynda Stephenson.

He is survived by his mother, Doris Roark of Cottondale, Florida; brother: Steve Roark and wife Charlotte of Cottondale, Florida; sister: Jane Gage and husband John of Smithville, Virginia; nephews: Doug Ware of Tallahassee, Florida, Mark Streb and wife Chris of California, David Roark and wife Colleen of Bonifay, Florida, Patrick Roark and wife Elizabeth of Chipley, Florida; nieces: Krista Rankin and husband Brent of Tallahassee, Florida, Amy Herring and husband Matt of Holly Springs, North Carolina. 

A memorial service will be held in his honor 11A.M. Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Alford Baptist Church in Alford, Florida with Rev. Bob Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in his honor to Samaritan’s Purse or the Alford Baptist Church Building Fund.
