Abraham Douglas

Mr. Abraham Douglas, age 98, of Sneads, FL transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on October 3, 2017 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Inez Williams-Harvey.

He was a member of the Greater Mt. Sinai African Methodist Episcopal Church where he served as a member of the Trustee Board, Class Leader and many other capacities.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Greater Mt. Sinai African Methodist Episcopal Church with Rev. Jerome Griffin, Pastor, Rev. Alonzie Scott, Minister Elouise James, Rev. Reuben Merritt, Rev. Evelyn Wilcox and Rev. Dr. C.L. Wilson, Officiating.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Vann Funeral Home will be in charge of the service.

Mr. Douglas will lie in repose at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time for the service.

The viewing will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Vann Funeral Home.

He leaves to cherish a lifetime of precious memories, a loving a devoted family:

Six Daughters: Julia Smith (John), Inez Williams-Harvey (Thomas), Josephine Baker (Hayward), and Geneva Debose, all of Sneads, FL; Elouise Dudley (Andrew) of Grand Ridge, FL and Mildred Douglas of Chattahoochee, FL

One Son: Johnnie Douglas (Deborah) of Chattahoochee, FL

One Sister-in-Law: Lillie Reed of Orangeburg, SC

And a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, great, great, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear, sorrowing friends.

Johnnie Mae Whitley

Ms. Johnnie Mae Whitley, of Blountstown, Florida, transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Sunday, October 1, 2017 in River Valley Rehabilitation Center.

Ms. Whitley was a life-long member of the Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served faithfully in various capacities. She was a retired educator in the Calhoun County Public Schools. To know her was to truly love her. 

Homegoing Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM from the sanctuary of the Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church located at 16076 SE River Street in Blountstown, Florida with Pastor Angus Jackson, the Reverend Dr. C.L. Wilson, and Apostle Geraldine B. Sheard officiating. Interment will be in the Magnolia Cemetery. Vann Funeral Home in charge.

Ms. Whitley will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until time for the service.

A viewing will held on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Vann Funeral Home.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and devoted family:

Clifford Henderson

Mr. Clifford Henderson of Cottondale, Florida transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at his residence.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM from the sanctuary of the Henshaw Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church located at 2730 Glastel Street in Cottondale, Florida 32431 with Presiding Elder Phillip Russ, IV; the Reverend Lawrence Gannt, Sr., Presiding Elder James H. Davis, Bishop Flavious Pittman, Pastor Gladys Inman, Minister Barbara White, and Evangelist Olivia Harrison officiating. Interment in the Arkadelphia Cemetery in Pine Apple, Alabama. Vann Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Henderson will lie in repose at the church from 10:00 AM until time for the service. 

The viewing will be held Friday October 6, 2017 at Vann Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. 

He leaves an abundance of beautiful, precious memories to a family that will mourn his passing which includes:

Two Sisters: Zola Mae Watson of Boston, Massachussetts; and Judy Munn of Pine Apple, Alabama

Mother-in-Law: Curlie Russ of Cottondale, Florida

Two Sisters-in-Law: Zolena Stephens (Keith) of Woodbridge, Virginia; Sharon Bowers (Eugene) of Greenwood, Florida

Two Brothers-in-Law: Charles Russ (Ola) of Southfield, Michigan; and Reggie Russ (Curly) of West Palm Beach, Florida

Twelve Grandchildren whom he loved: Gregory Porter, Jr.; Aizan Robinson; Uriah Blanks; Jacques Lee; RayQuan Henderson; Dontrell Green; Jakia Grimsley; Chasen Pittman; Dominque Pittman; Tanyia Potter; Corde’ O’Neal; and Reagan Potter
