Hill A. Poss

Hill A. Poss, 91, of Chattahoochee, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, February 22, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Morris, Georgia on November 11, 1927.   Hill was a veteran of the US Army and served his country honorably during World War II.   He was a faithful Christian and member of Grace Community Baptist Church, a loving father, a proud grandfather and great grandfather.  Hill was an inspiration to all who knew him and lived life serving others.  He was a kind and gentle person who loved spending time with his precious family especially his grandchildren. He was a tireless and selfless volunteer at his church and for Meal on Wheels when he was able.  There was nothing Hill liked better than an interesting conversation with a good friend or new friend during a trip to the grocery store or on his daily walk.  He could have an engaging conversation with anyone.  Hill will be missed by his family and many friends.

Hill is survived by his precious wife of 67 years, Gladys Shirley Poss; one daughter, Shirley Pace and her husband Rocky of Chattahoochee, FL; one grandson, Andy Pace and his wife Tiffany of Crawfordville, FL; four great grandchildren, Mason Pace, Finnleigh Pace, Rhyder Pace and Bricyn Kennedy; two sisters, Dorothy Gary and Allene Boyette both of Morris Station, GA;  as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Sarah Poss; two sisters, Katherine Harris and Maggie Amason; and three brothers, “Boots” Poss, Cecil Poss, and “Bur” Poss.

Visitation with family and friends will take place at Grace Community Baptist Church on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 12:30 PM EST.  A Celebration of Life Service will follow beginning at 2:00 PM EST with Rev. Conrad Salter officiating and McAlpin Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grace Community Baptist Church 2059 Booster Club Road  Bainbridge, GA  39819 or your charity of choice.
