Mattie Gertrude (Hamm) Brown

Mattie Gertrude (Hamm) Brown was born April 16, 1932.  She was surrounded by her loving family, when God’s Angels escorted her to heaven on Sunday, January 6, 2019.  She will always be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  Mrs. Brown was honored on October 7, 2018 at the Sneads Pentecostal Holiness Church as the oldest living member and in recognition of Faithful Service since 1959. 

Mrs. Brown is survived by her sons, Vincent (Jessie) Byrd of Sneads, FL, and Tommy (Karen) Byrd of Grand Ridge, FL; her daughters, Naomi (Jim) Brady of Newton, AL, and Sonya Braswell of Sneads, FL. She was a loving grandmother of nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Gracie Hamm, and her son William T. Waldroff.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Snead Pentecostal Holiness Church on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 3:00 PM CST with Rev. Jimmie Wright officiating and McAlpin Funeral Home directing.  Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday from 6:00pm-8:00pm CST at McAlpin Funeral Home.  Interment will be private at a later date.
