Samuel Brown, Jr.

Samuel Brown, Jr. Samuel Brown, Jr.

Mr. Samuel Brown, Jr., of Panama City, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 18th at North West Hospital in Pensacola, Florida surrounded by his loving family.  He was 84 years old.

 He was born in Cross City, Florida to the late Deacon Samuel Sr. and Rosa Lee Brown Carroll.  Upon moving with his family to Panama City, he attended and graduated from the Bay County Public School System at Rosenwald High School in 1952.  After high school, Sam joined the United States Armed Forces, serving during the Korean conflict and later became a member of the Army boxing team.  He was also a member of the Army Reserves.

 Precious memories will forever remain with a loving and devoted family; six sons, Eugene Brown (Joyce), Harold Brown, Reginald Brown, Vincent Brown, Patrick Brown and Vernon Mathis; four daughters, Carolyn Brown McCoy, Corrine Brown, Christell Brown Peters and Calinda Brown all of Panama City, Florida; one sister, Corrine Mobley of Tampa, Florida; three brothers, David Brown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Harold Carroll (Reba) and Connell Carroll both of Atlanta, Georgia; 12 grandchildren, Letriece McCoy, Paul McCoy Jr., Hope McCoy, Tremika Brown, Trenisha Brown, Saquilla Brown, Cameron Brown, Matthew Brown, Zharayvan Brown, Alexis Peters, Tevin Brown all of Panama City, Florida and Layla Brown of Los Angeles, California; five great grandchildren, Cortez McCoy, Marc Logan, DeVari Spencer, Sarah Clark and Sean Clark; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish his memories.

 A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, October 27th at 12 noon at Macedonia  Missionary Baptist Church in Panama City, Florida with Dr. Jesse L. Nelson, Senior Pastor and Elder James E. Russ officiating.  Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home in Marianna, Florida.
