The School Board and Superintendent of Schools Larry Moore paid special recognition to several individuals as well as the Cottondale FFA Chapter at Thursday’s board workshop.  The Cottondale FFA has been awarded a Three-Star Chapter status at the National level.

Moore said, “Now we have several students we would like to recognize. These different individuals and teams will be recognized, or either competing, or both at the National FFA Convention in October in Indianapolis, Indiana. The first of which we will recognize is Cottondale FFA Chapter, they are a three-star chapter at the national level.”

Moore then asked the students, “What is involved in the three-star recognition?”  Caleb Reed, Cottondale FFA member said, “It is an application that you first submit to the Florida FFA Association. They kind of review it and give you back edits, and then you submit it again to the National FFA Organization. There are three divisions and five quality standards for each division. Then you kind of have that one activity in your chapter for each of those quality standards that meet that area. So, they kind of check for objectives, goals, and how you meet those goals and what tactics you employ to be successful.”

Moore went on to say, “Also this group is the Cottondale FFA Communications team. Four of you comprise that team, and you will be competing at the national level. As Florida’s winners, you will be representing Cottondale, Jackson County, and Florida at the national level. Laramie Pooser, Caleb Reed, Carl Young, and Casey Lathan, make up that team.  We wish y’all the best at the national level.”
