Jackson County has truly been blessed with volunteers from all over the state and panhandle converging on our county to help in every way possible. None have been more present than the Davie Police Department.
Last week, they were assisting the Marianna Police Department with an accident. While they were in the process of the investigation, they noticed a group of kids playing basketball with an old volleyball and a milk crate.
The Davie Police officers pooled some money together and went out to get them a new hoop set and a true-to-life basketball, stressing it was important to have the right equipment in everything you do. They built the set in the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office aviator hanger, they set it up for the kids. A few hours later, the kids and the community were outside playing ball and having fun without so much as a thought of Hurricane Michael.
This is part of rebuilding the community that the Davie Police Department is proud to say they are a part of on a daily basis.
