Jackson County Library

Jackson County Library

The Jackson County Library began as a Bicentennial project of the Jackson County Heritage Association in 1975. The group received a $15,000 grant from the State Bicentennial Commission and $15,000 from the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners. The remaining funds were collected in an intensive fund drive from individuals, clubs, and businesses all over Jackson County.

Ground was broken on July 4, 1976, and the building was completed and presented to the Jackson county Commissioners by the Heritage Association, debt free, in August 1977. At that time, the library, which was started and maintained by the Marianna Woman's Club was closed, and all books were transferred to the new facility.

In 1992 an addition of 6,000 square feet was added on the back of the building.
