Tip for removing broken light bulb
- Written by Danny Lipford

Here’s a simple trick to remove a broken light bulb from a socket.
Turn off the power to the fixture at the breaker.
Take an empty water bottle and slowly heat the mouth with a butane lighter, just enough to soften the plastic and make it sticky.
Press the bottle mouth into the bulb’s base, which is slightly larger. Hold the bottle still for a few seconds allowing it to cool and stick to the base.
While maintaining slight pressure, slowly turn the bottle counterclockwise to unscrew the bulb base until it is clear of the socket.
