Mount makes history as the first African American Vice Chair

Judy Mount Judy Mount

Judy Mount is the first African American to be elected to Vice Chair of the Florida Democratic Party.

Judy has a long record of service to the Democratic party, her community, and the state.  She is both the Democratic County Chairs Association, the Jackson County DEC, and the FDP Treasurer.

This most recent ‘first’ was not by any means Mount’s first in her adult life.  She was also the first African American elected female official in Jackson County by serving as President on the Town of Malone’s City Council.  She previously served two terms both as FDP Vice Chair and as Congress District Two Chairwoman.

Judy is a 1977 graduate of Malone High School, and attended Chipola College.  She has worked at the Florida House of Representatives since 2003.

FDP Reorganizational Meeting held in Orlando on Saturday.  Voters were State Committee men and woman, and State House and Senate appointed members, Congressional Members, and US Senator Bill Nelson.

This position also makes Mount an Automatic Democratic National Committee woman.  So not only will she serve in Florida but will represent Florida on the National Level as well.

State Committee men and women are from each County that has an organized Democratic Party

The new Chair is Stephen Bittel, State Committee man from Miami-Dade County, Secretary is Casmore Shaw from Osceola County, and Treasurer is Francesco Menes from Miami-Dade County.

Elected Democractic National Committee Members are Nikki Barnes from Wakulla County, Terrie Rizzo from Palm Beach County, Grace Carrington from Broward County, Alma Gonzelez from Hillsborough County, and Cynthia Bush from Broward County.

Elected Male Democratic National Committee Members are Senator Dwight Bullard from Miami-Dade County, John Parker from Duval County, John Ramos from Palm Beach County. Alan Clendinine from Bradford County, and Ken Evans from Broward County.

About her history making feat, Mount was all smiles, “I thank God for making this dream come true.  I can’t thank the people that had faith in me and bestowed this honor on me, my supporters, prayer warriors, (they know who they are), and our God get all the credit.  Serving Florida and Jackson County is my calling.  And I am ready. This position also makes me a Super Delegate for the 2020 Presidential Election Cycle and I could not be more excited.”
