Thank You Jackson County! Thanks to the retail stores which allowed the Pennies for Pencils Canisters adorn their counters, Thanks to the citizens of the county who dropped their change into the canisters as they checked out, Thanks to the Businesses who donated to the campaign, Thanks to the Civic Clubs who donated generously, ..... Because of your generosity every first, second, and third grade teacher in the county will be able to do something extra for their class projects and needy children. And most importantly, they won't be forced to take money from their own purse to do it!
For the public schools, the checks were given to the school principals at theIR monthly Principals Meeting on Monday. During the following days checks were given to Victory Academy, Dayspring Christian School, and Masters Academy. The amounts ranged from $425 to $50, depending on the school's enrollment in the first three grades.
This program directly helps the teacher in the classroom, linking the community's support with the needs of the teachers. That is the unique feature of the Pennies for Pencils program.
