This month's First Friday Power Breakfast was delayed until the Third Friday of the month in order for the occasion to feature the Lt. Governor of Florida, Jennifer Carroll. Free breakfast and an address by a State Leader, sounds like a worthwhile event for us all.

The event will be at the Penn Avenue Agricultural Center, and will begin at 7:00 AM. Covenant Hospice is the hosting organization.

Mrs. Carroll is a 20 year Navy veteran, she was a state legislator for over seven years, served as Director of the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs, and now is the Lt. Governor of Florida. She was born in Trinidad West Indies, immigrated to the US, entered the US Navy as a jet mechanic, became an officer, and retired as a Lt. Commander Aviation Maintenance Officer. Her story is one of determination and inspiration as an example of the opportunities which are there for those who strive to advance.

She was the first African American female Republican elected to the Florida legislature. She was appointed Deputy Majority Leader, Vice Chair of the Transportation and Economic Development Committee, Majority Whip, then she chaired the Finance Committee and finally chaired the Economic and Development Council. She is married to Nolan Carroll of Miami, and they have three children. That is quite a resume! We should look forward to hearing her speak.
