Traffic Stop and Mouthful of Marijuana Lands Sylvester in Jail

On Thursday, February 9 at approx. 2:00am, Officers of the Marianna Police Department conducted a traffic stop on vehicle for an equipment violation. Upon making contact with the driver who identified himself as, Thomas Emanuel Sylvester, Officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

Sylvester was then asked to exit the vehicle and was patted down for Officer safety. A search was then conducted of the vehicle and a broken crack pipe and steel wool were found. Officers then noticed the strong odor of marijuana was coming from Sylvester. Sylvester was asked to open his mouth to check to see if he was concealing narcotics.

When Sylvester opened his mouth he had intense odor of marijuana coming from it and a large amount of marijuana caked on his tongue, and lodged in his teeth. Sylvester was placed under arrest and transported to the Marianna Police Department for processing, and later taken to JCCF to await first appearance.
